Inside the EO: Fresh Faces Series

What is your name? Kelly Ryan

Where are you originally from? Bow, New Hampshire

Where did you attend college and what chapter were you a part of there? I was initiated at James Madison University (Theta Iota) and transferred my sophomore year to the University of New Hampshire (Eta Alpha).

What was your major in college? I was a Recreation Management and Policy Major- Therapeutic Recreation

What was your plan post-graduation? Did you pursue a graduate degree post-graduation? I graduated this past spring. This past summer I completed a 580 hour clinical at a state Hospital in New Hampshire, and in October I became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. As of right now, I do not plan on pursuing a graduate degree for at least a few years; I’d like to get settled in the “real world” for a while first!

Why did you decide to work for Alpha Phi International Fraternity? As a collegian, I was always very involved with the Fraternity and held leadership roles such as Vice President of Program Development and Chapter President. Alpha Phi has been there for me since the day I received my bid and I want to show my gratitude. I decided to work for Alpha Phi International Fraternity because I want to help Alpha Phi continue its greatness.

What is your job title? Coordinator of Collegiate Member Services

When did you start in your current position? Mid-December 2011

What is your favorite memory of Alpha Phi—as a collegian, alumna, or staff member? Convention 2010. As Chapter President I was lucky enough to attend Convention as UNH’s Collegiate voting delegate. My time spent there opened my eyes to Alpha Phi as an International organization and a lifetime commitment. It was genuinely a life changing experience.

What do you like best about working at the Executive Office or what are you most looking forward to? I love how everyone in the office comes from different backgrounds, including many different chapters of Alpha Phi, however, everyday we come to work with a common goal which brings us all together; and that goal is to make Alpha Phi a better organization!

What are some of your goals for the next few years? Since I relocated to Chicago as a result of this job, one of my big goals it to learn my way around the city! I would also like to run a half-marathon; I’m not sure which one will take more time!

Do you have any advice for current collegiate members? Alpha Phi has an unlimited amount of resources for you as a collegiate member and alumna, so take the time to investigate how Alpha Phi can help you accomplish your future goals and remember it is a lifetime commitment!
